Chicken Gyros with Tzatziki

A trademark Greek dish that's full of all the benefits of a Mediterranean diet. The chicken provides a good source of protein, the tomatoes are rich in various vitamins, minerals and phytonutrients, while the yogurt is great for recovery post-workout.

Serves 4

400 g Chicken breasts

2 tbsp Olive oil

3 tsp oregano

2 tsp Mint

60 ml Lemon juice

2 tsp cumin

3 tsp Paprika

2 tsp Cinnamon

3 tsp black pepper

200 g Greek yogurt

3 Garlic cloves

1/2 (half) Cucumber (diced)

4 Whole-wheat pitas

50 g Lettuce

2 Tomatoes (diced)

2 Red onions

1. Marinade the chicken breasts with the oil, oregano, mint, half the lemon juice, cumin, paprika, cinnamon, pepper and 2 garlic cloves and cover and chill for a few hours.

2. Preheat the grill to a high heat. Add the marinated chicken to a foiled baking tray and grill for 15 - 20 mins, turning half way. Make sure the chicken is cooked all the way through.

3. While the chicken is cooking, mix the yogurt, fresh mint, cucumber, one garlic clove and the rest of the lemon juice in a bowl to make the tzatziki.

4. Slice and serve the chicken in a pita with lettuce, tomato and onions along with a dollop of your homemade tzatziki!
